WRIGLEY FIELD FAN REVIEWS & EXPERIENCES

Submitted By: Will G. Grade: A
Pros of the ballpark:
I don't think there's anything I can add about Wrigley that hasn't already been said over the years from celebrities to poets to politicians to generations of fans. So I'll say this: is there anything that says "America" better than a day game at Wrigley with a mustard-topped hot dog in 1 hand and a Budweiser in the other, seated in an upperdeck seat with a view of the neighborhood just outside the park with the lake in the distance, while watching the Cubs lose to the Cardinals?
Cons of the ballpark: You can easily find fault with the crowded concourses, crumbling infrastructure, long concession and bathroom lines, a unique smell, lack of parking, and legendarily inept team. However, that's like going camping and complaining about mosquitos, rain, sleeping in a tent, bathrooms about on par with Wrigley's, and bear attacks. These so-called negatives are all part of the charm.

Additional Comments:
There's a difference between grading a "ballpark" vs. "the ballpark experience". Most other MLB parks are light years better than Wrigley as modern, comfortable facilities, but the only one that comes close to rivaling the baseball experience is Fenway.

Submitted By: Martin McGirk Grade: D
Pros of the ballpark: History and an old school baseball vibe.
Cons of the ballpark: Everything else! The lines are all terribly long. The parking is impossible so you are forced to take crowded trains. The field looked chewed up.  The staff was the rudest I've ever seen! The food was way overrated and expensive. The beer was Bud or Old Style, yuk! The bathrooms were putrid, and many of the fans were obnoxious drunks or tourists yapping on cell phones.
Additional Comments:
If you are a Cubs fan of course you will love it. There are much nicer parks out there. Even some minor league parks are better.

Pros of the ballpark: The best baseball park I have visited as of yet is Wrigley Field and the best seats in baseball are the bleachers at Wrigley! We were lucky enough to catch a Cubs/Sox game and I have to say that it was the most intense baseball experience I have ever been a part of. The park itself looks much better than I could have envisioned a 75+ year old park to be. It takes you back in time and the feeling of just passing by the place is almost overwhelming. The neighborhood is great, concessions are priced about the same as most other parks, and there are more choices for food and beer than in a lot of other parks. The fans were a rowdy bunch at the game we attended but it was a cross-town rivals game. All in all this place is nostalgia, history, beauty, and brings backs memories of baseball at it once was-the great American pastime. Wrigley Field IS baseball past, present, and future! Go there its well worth it for even a casual fan.
Cons of the ballpark: The Cubs and the Cub fans-not as intense as the White Sox fans.
Additional Comments: Although I have an extreme dislike for the Cubs, this ballpark is one of the classics and one of the best in baseball. Its not about gimmicks or free stuff here, just lots of tradition and nostalgia and history that I have yet to experience with any other baseball park. This is a place every fan of baseball needs to visit at least once.

Pros of the ballpark: Don't listen to the Sox fans, they are confused. If they weren't smart enough to avoid becoming Sox fans, how trustworthy can their opinions be anyway? The party starts outside of the stadium and continues after the game.  Every seat is close, and the close seats are right on top of things.  You can heckle Barry Bonds and actually SEE that tear roll down his cheek. There are alot of day games.  Nothing beats sitting in the sun and drinking a beer an inning while still falling behind the pace of the people around you. The vendors are accessible.  The average time between beer guys seems to be about 53 seconds. Tradition is big in baseball and Wrigley is loaded with it.  The manual scoreboard, the bleacher bums (well as bummy as a person can be and still afford 40 dollar bleacher seats) rooftops, wandering brass bands, celebrity conductors, choking....  The list is impressive.
Cons of the ballpark: I never noticed before reading this site, but the staff *is* very rude in general.  Down in the left field club box section, they feature the rudest beer vendor to ever set foot in a stadium.   They should put that in their advertising somewhere. Also it shouldn't take 30 minutes to get from field level seats to the street after the game.  Just stay in your seat and wait. Parking is bad.  However, I took the train from my downtown hotel last time.  It was a horrible experience.  If you can, just cough up the 20 bucks to park.
Additional Comments: Peeing in a trough with 40 other guys is always fun!  As a tradition, it kind of puts the sausage race in Milwaukee to shame.

Pros of the ballpark: Very close to public transportation... so you can hurry and get out of there!
Cons of the ballpark: I think asking $40.00 to park in an alley is very disturbing. This place does not have any suitable parking unless you are willing to pay $30.00 to park in the drive thru at McDonalds. The entire venue smells like a nasty toilet. When You actually need to use the bathroom you have to walk around the entire stadium and levels down just use it. This is NOT a kid friendly place at all. Children that show up have absolutely nothing to do but sit b/w a bunch a people who don't even watch the game, drink beer the entire time and only show some life when the 7th inning stretch comes around- that or when its a pop up in the middle of the infield. Another HUGE con of this stadium is the team, but don't get me started on that I don't think there is enough typing space for all of that.
Additional Comments: They also need a new staff... they are rude, they don't do their job and also it's terrible that they have worked there since they last won World Series in 1908! It is also true that they are rude as people come into the stadium. They wouldn't let us bring in a small flag during an interleague game because that was considered a weapon. (the flag was of the other team) After we requested to speak to someone about it, they got angry when I questioned them that "if its considered a weapon, then why do they sell mini flags in the stadium?" They made us stand outside while we talked w/ guest services and let numerous people carrying the exact flag (of both cubs and the interleague team) enter the stadium. Talk about terrible staff and service. I will never go back to that stadium. Even if the ticket is free that still costs too much.

Pros of the ballpark: I've been three times (2002, 2003, and 2005), and I'll testify that Wrigley Field is the pinnacle of MLB parks.  If you have not been to any major league ballpark, and you know that you'll only have one chance to ever go, you MUST go to Wrigley Field.  Driving or walking up to Wrigley is fun!  Walking around before the game is a rush. Walking in is exciting.  Taking your seat is a thrill.  The upper deck, which is hardly high up, has excellent seating, with shade and perfect sight-lines for viewing game action.  The concessions are standard, but good.  Tickets are not particularly expensive, considering the shrine status of the place.  Since it's so small, it's easy to walk all around.
Cons of the ballpark: Well, it's old, has cramped concourses, low-tech restrooms, essentially no parking areas, and poor sightlines from the lower deck seats tucked back under the upper deck.
Additional Comments: Wow!  The first time I went, I kept thinking, "Man, I'm really here."  I'd watched Cubs games broadcast from Wrigley back in Louisiana since we'd gotten cable tv in 1981.  When I first started watching the Cubs and White Sox (at age 13) I always had the dream to go.  People, back here in Louisiana are like, "Whoa, you really went to Wrigley?  What's it like? Oh, man, I always wanted to go there," etc.  My recommendation to anyone is "GO TO WRIGLEY!"  It's a life experience.

Pros of the ballpark: The uniqueness: the ivy-covered walls, the neighborhood setting, nearby bars and restaurants, and the history.  It's also easily accessible by CTA.
Cons of the ballpark: While the field itself is beautiful, the rest of the venue isn't so.  The bathrooms are cramped and uncomfortable.  The main entrance is nice, but the other entrances are dark and dingy with pipes hanging overhead.  The obstructed-view seats are a pain.  The tickets are expensive, but that's mostly from the Cubs exploiting the high demand in order to maximize profit.  Parking is limited, and what little parking there is, you have to pay $20 or more.  Because of that, I recommend taking the CTA to Wrigley, and do some hotel research to find one close to a CTA stop.
Additional Comments: I went to Wrigley in 2004 to see my beloved A's play the Cubs in an interleague series.  Wrigley Field is a dichotomy in action.  Beautiful playing field, but crummy accommodations (mostly due to age).  Certainly a must-see for any baseball fan, but be prepared for some disappointments, too.  I hope the Cubs spend the money to make some behind-the-scenes upgrades to this venerable old ballpark.

Pros of the ballpark: I'll say right off the bat that I'm a militant White Sox fan and, generally, the only time I'll come to this field is to see the team from 8.5 miles south play. Wrigley Field is all about ivy, sunning, drinking, and fun. All of which, admittedly, you will find in abundance. I do like the history of Wrigley - it is, interestingly, the only physical remains of the would-have-been upstart Federal League (Wrigley was to house the Federal League Chicago Whales). Like any old ballpark Wrigley is significant to the history of the game (most of which is, I think, lost on Cub fans). I do like that Wrigley has some unique outfield dimensions and vantage points, which is refreshing when compared to parks built in the 60's - 80's. Another likeable thing about Wrigley is that - again, like most old parks - you will sit right on top of the action as virtually every seat in the house sits close to the playing field. Another likeable thing about Wrigley is that it is l
located right in the middle of an actual neighborhood with much in the way of drinking and eating nearby. Not many parks today integrate with an actual neighborhood.
Cons of the ballpark: To me, a White Sox fan, I find the lack of fan intensity disturbing. I really get the feeling that to Cub fans the game itself is secondary to the "experience". Cub fans may not be to blame though. On any given day the Wrigley crowd will be made up of a significant % of tourists. Still though, Cub fans are not exactly bent on the home team winning. How else could you explain the fact that they continue to jam Wrigley despite the fact that the Cubs will soon hit a 100 year anniversary since their last championship. Another thing I find repulsive is the Cub fan tradition of throwing back to the field opposing team home runs. To me, this displays an utter lack of respect for the game. Wrigley itself - while cute & charming - does not have very good facilities and you will definitely want to avoid driving if you can help it. The downside of the park being located in a neighborhood is that there is not a modern, convenient parking facility.
Additional Comments: Ok, if you're from out of town I know Wrigley is on the top of your to-do list, so . . . do it. Go there. It is for tourists and a great way to get a 'feel' for Chicago. Afterwards, do yourself a favor and take in another game 8.5 miles south. Marvel at the difference in fan intensity and baseball knowledge - and enjoy the great Chicago tradition of singing "NaNaNaaa Na Na NaaaNa Na hey hey hey Goodbye!!" when the White Sox homer, win, or chase the visiting team's pitcher in their drive for another championship!!

Pros of the ballpark: Wow! Wow! Wow! I have never walked into a stadium before in total awe! Wrigley was the first. Wrigley sits right in the middle of bars, shops, streets etc. There is no main concourse or anything like that. That is unique. I liked that feel. The monumental Wrigley Field sign is an American icon. The grass is striking. It is so green and well kept. We had seats a couple of rows from the field right next to the Cubs bullpen. Very close. The atmosphere is great. One of a kind. Wrigley is the only field that made me say "WOW"!
Cons of the ballpark: If you are coming from the airport (south side of town), it is a long haul to Wrigley. You can take the trams, but allow for plenty of time. The only negative experience I have is that I haven't sat in the bleachers yet.
Additional Comments: A must-see park. You simply cannot compare Wrigley to any of the new stadiums being built. It is in a class all of its own.

Submitted By: Terry Walters Grade: A
Pros of the ballpark: Sight lines; history; the neighborhood. Unlike newer stadia, the upper deck is not in the flight path of the local airport.
Cons of the ballpark: Be prepared to either walk a fair distance or pay high parking fees near the park. Best bet, however, is to park elsewhere (Howard St. park & ride lot if coming from the north) and take the "el".
Additional Comments: The roofs across Waveland and Sheffield were much nicer when occupied by ordinary fans. They have become "yuppified" in recent years and are now rented out to corporate types. They have erected mini-bleachers where in past years ordinary fans sat on lawn chairs. Still, I hope the Cubs never do what Connie Mack did 70 years ago at Shibe and put up a "spite fence". It would disconnect the fans in the park from the neighborhood.

Pros of the ballpark: Coming in as a visiting team fan I was surprised that I wasn't heckled by the Wrigleyville faithful. I loved how the ballpark is mostly preserved so you can have the same experience that others have had for generations. Wrigley field (Wrigleyville) is a wonderful taste of Chicago flavor with it's pubs, restaurants and residential homes incorporated together.
Cons of the ballpark: The ballpark is really showing it's age for the most part. Restrooms are dark, crowded and old. Unless you know somebody with lives in the area you have to rely on public transportation to get in and out of Wrigleyville for games.
Additional Comments: Wrigley Field is definitely "Old School" but that is what makes it what it is. This ballpark is a true baseball fan experience.

Submitted By: Scott M. Grade: D
Pros of the ballpark: The only pro of this park is the historical purpose.
Cons of the ballpark: The biggest con was the people that work at the park, as a native of Philadelphia I thought I knew rudeness, then I went to Wrigley Field.  History (read nostalgia) may be kind to the park, but weather has not been, the park needs many repairs and just better general housekeeping.  They sell out nearly every game, and its still one of the most expensive stadiums in MLB, and the Cubs still stink....where is the money going?  Drunken fans were bad, but not as bad as some people would say, your worst experience at Wrigley Field with drunken fans would probably happen at any stadium, its just more common at Wrigley.
Additional Comments: The main reason I rate this park so poorly is for one reason, the people that work there.  They think they are gods over the suckers who spent 40 dollars for a bad ticket just because they work at Wrigley park.  The game was sold out (as usual) that I went to, and luckily I had extra tickets (friends who couldn't go) I really didn't feel like scalping them so I thought I'd be a really nice, good and honest baseball fan for once and just give them away.  I've done this before (numerous times at the vet and a few other parks) and have never had a problem.  Usually I go near the ticket window and say "hey, want a free ticket" and no big deal.  Things don't work like that at Wrigley.  When I tried it there, one of these high and mighty stadium employees got in my face and started to yell to the nearest police officer to come over.  So much for doing a good deed daily.  The next issue I ran into was bringing a bag in.  I had a bag that conforms to the size regulations with MLB rules (that day it was raining so I had a towel and poncho, and also binoculars, cameras...usually out of town fan stuff) and they refused to let me in.  What was really insulting was that I've used the exact same other back and nearly every other ballpark I've been to and there has never been an issue with it.  Luckily since it was a rainy day, I left that entrance, put my poncho on, and put the bag under the poncho and went in a different gate.  Same game, different employees, more rudeness.  The cubs were playing the brewers that day (you know if you lose to the brewers your team stinks) but the brewers players turned out to be pretty nice.  I was sitting on the first base side and all of the brewers were signing everything any kid would give them, I now have a lot of respect for those players.  Like I said, it was rainy, hardly anyone was at the game, and none of the seating area where the players and kids were was occupied.  Can you believe it took 4 ushers to continue to chase those kids away.  It would have been one thing if they were bothering the players, but the players were they trying to do something nice. I'd think every fan might have a bad experience with a particular ballpark, for me it was Wrigley.  I think I'll give them another chance though.  By the way, the Tribune Co (owners) are all about money.  Its way to obvious, they don't care about baseball or the fans at all.  I heard they are planning on putting up a spite fence and are currently in litigations with most of the owners of the homes where people can watch the games from the rooftops.

Pros of the ballpark: Everything is totally awesome I mean this is like the best ballpark ever with that Ivy in the bleachers and the scoreboard makes it look like you are in some time in history. And also those fans are great and make it look even better because the Chicago Cubs have the best fans ever.
Cons of the ballpark: The things I didn't like about it its that when you go there and you're sitting down watching the game you cant see some parts of the field with the posts that they have in there and bad weather is also something that sometimes bothers you a lot but that's just sometimes but the rest is just awesome.
Additional Comments: Don't listen to what other people say and Wrigley might not be the best park to visit for some of you but you always have a great time at Wrigley.

Pros of the ballpark: Truly the "Friendly Confines", Wrigley is a baseball national treasure.  The ivy-covered walls and old-fashioned score board take you back to baseball's golden age.  Transportation to the games is a breeze when you take the red line train from the loop.
Cons of the ballpark: Even in May, you may need jackets, blankets, and extra clothing to weather the stiff lake "breeze" from the east.
Additional Comments: Wrigley is the perfect destination for a great afternoon of baseball.  For the love of God, don't drive, take the train for $3 round trip.  It's the Cubs - we love them whether they win or lose (but we're happier when they win).  If my own city had a park like this that was easy to get to, I'd go to every game that I could.

Pros of the ballpark: Wrigley on a ballpark ratings system is well just average.  Most of its draw and charm doesn't come from area in which you would consider desirable for modern amenities.  The biggest physical draw to this park is that the seats proximity to the field is closer than most.  Although that also comes with drawbacks of obstructed views.  Nevertheless, Wrigley does have its old time charm and nostalgia with classic look and appeal, but it just not one of those nice clean comfortable relaxing parks.
Cons of the ballpark: Like I said earlier the closeness of the seats to the field is great, but many seats are obstructed views.  There are support poles halfway up the lower and upper decks in your vision and in the lower deck half of the seats have a low level roof over your head.  You cant see fly balls.  The stadium itself is well old and dirty.  Its cramped, slow moving, and not clean.  The food is just ok nothing special. The atmosphere inside the stadium is unique but I didn't find it desirable.  Its more of rowdy crowd.  Not very diverse, the crowd seems to wait for the 7th inning stretch and then leave (or get quite).  I saw a lot of younger people seemingly spend their time walking around and socializing and drinking not even in their seats.  True there are a lot of tours its too, but they aren't they rowdy ones.  The thing that bothered me was the large number of young people there for a day game getting drunk and socializing.  What happened to work or school for the 20 something year olds?
Additional Comments: Wrigley is OK it has a lot of nostalgia and classic ballpark feel.  Its charm is in its history not its fan pleasing amenities.  Parking is a nightmare, there just isn't any.  The neighborhood is nice and more upscale, but a bit rowdy with those 20 something year old crowds I was talking about.  All and All is just well AVERAGE!!!

Pros of the ballpark = Close to public transportation.  The immediate vicinity of the park is yuppified, but several blocks west of the park is a nice, old German neighborhood with traditional beer halls to match.
Cons of the ballpark: Most overrated park in baseball.  The place is falling apart.  Long lines, rude ushers, plumbing from the 1800s, no parking, and "fans" who stand in the aisle, blocking the view of the minority of people actually trying to watch the game.  Lots of "baseball tradition," but all of it bad.
Additional Comments: An architectural masterpiece almost 100 years ago, Cubs ownership really let the place go some time back, and the park has never recovered.  Advanced age, space limitations, and landmark designation make effective renovations impossible at this point.  A very uncomfortable place to watch a game, especially for actual baseball fans.  It's primarily populated by young adults, who come to drink and be seen, not to watch the game.

Pros of the ballpark: I mean its Wrigley Field, who doesn't love it. All those people that gave it a low grade are all haters because they dont have a beautiful stadium like the Cubbies have. The reasons that I think Wrigley Field is the best stadium in the majors are:
1.The Ivy covered walls make it look different from all the other ballparks and also make it unique.
2.The atmosphere there is the best it feels like if you were in the 20's or 30's.
3.The scoreboard also makes it look like if you were in the 20's or 30's because its one of two hand worked scoreboards in the majors.
4.And last but not least its the team, even if we haven't won a world series for years this stadium will always be recognized because of the Chicago Cubs.
Cons of the ballpark: I did not find many cons in the friendly confines but here are some of the things that i didnt like:
1.Parking is a really major issue, they should demolish some buildings an make a parking lot.
2.Bathrooms are very crowded and also very long lines.
Additional Comments: Wrigley field is the best ballpark in history. Some people say they would prefer that the Cubs would play in a new stadium and if that happens at least convert Wrigley into a museum or something that would commemorate the Cubs.

Submitted By: Brad Fender Grade: A
Pros of the ballpark: The pros of this field in my opinion are too numerous to count. The loyal fans who yes at times can be rowdy, (but name a field where you dont find these people.) The beautifully manicured field, the seventh inning stretch, the ball hawks, bleacher bums rejecting opposing home run balls back onto the field, the wind, the ivy and where else are you going to find a field that is pretty much void of any kind of advertisement.
Cons of the ballpark: Well of course the cons will be parking ,in most cases, about a mile away unless you take the am track which still involves some walking. (heaven forbid) and sometimes lake Michigan can dish out some pretty strong winds. And roaming afternoon shade can turn a generally warm day game into a cool one.
Additional Comments: I'm not going to harp on those few ball fans who unfortunately had a bad experience at Wrigley because I feel that if ones main concern at a baseball game is how comfy the seats are or that some 70 year old usher upset you by doing his job then maybe you should stick to watching ball games at home.. that way you wont be depriving a REAL baseball fan their seat. And risk getting your pants "dirty".. the horror!! YES its an old stadium...and im pretty sure its not structurally superior to the other more modern fields, with their waterfalls and such, but thats what sets it apart from everyone else. A sense of history and tradition..a sense of pride Because win or lose (More than likely lose) that stadium WILL ALWAYS be packed full of die hard fans. Fans who dont mind paying 40dollars to watch a team they love in a stadium they love. Apparently some people cant handle the petty little inconviences an old stadium poses. For anyone else who has ever wanted to visit Wrigley Field its quite an experience. And I think one of the most enjoyable experiences Chicago has to offer.

Submitted By: T.S. Grade: A
Pros of the ballpark: The atmosphere.  A beautiful park without all the bells and whistles of a new, commercialized park.  I usually go back to Chicago every year and try to catch at least one Cubs game.  And when I step into Wrigley Field, it's like it is for the first time.  The view still puts me in awe.  I have been to other ballparks, but none of them compare to The Friendly Confines.
Cons of the ballpark: I don't really remember too many cons of this ballpark.  I've never even had any problems with the ushers.  However, it was freezing one day in June with all the wind blowing off of the lake.  But, that still didn't deter me from having a great time.
Additional Comments: I have never run into some of the problems the non Cubs fans have posted here.  When I go to a game, I don't usually leave my seat.  I stay put and watch the entire game.  I agree, a lot of the food and beverages are overpriced, however, I expect that.  And the prices are like that at every ballpark I have been to.  My point: if you can go to a ballgame and complain about the price of food, the restrooms, and the ushers then you are not that much of a baseball fan to being with.  Especially if that is your most memorable experience.  Wrigley Field is truly an icon in baseball.  If you haven't been there, you need to experience it at least once.

Pros of the ballpark = Baseball the way it should be.  No music before players come to bat, no jumbotron, no sponsorship.  Watching a game in Wrigley Field from the Bleachers was an amazing experience, not ruined by the fact the Cubs lost 10-0 to the Pirates.  Wrigley offers an atmosphere unmatched by any other ballpark. I felt like I was watching a game from the 1950's.
Cons of the ballpark: The bleachers can be a tough place, especially for kids.  The ticket prices are also high, but the experience is worth it.  If you have bleacher seats you can not access any other part of the ballpark.
Additional Comments: The "Friendly Confines" is exactly that. Wrigley Field is like a block party centered around the game.  An amazing place that I suggest all true baseball fans try to experience.

Submitted By: George Randford Grade: F
Pros of the ballpark: Access to public transit is decent.  Lots of days games.  The seats are right on top of the action.
Cons of the ballpark: Very expensive from tickets to parking to concessions.  Atmosphere similar to a college bar...plenty of DePaul kids and recent grads from your Big Ten college of choice at Wrigley spending first paychecks playing in the city.  The two worst things are the bathrooms and the concourses.  The mens room floor is often covered in six inches of urine, vomit, and spilled old style beer which all seems to drain out into the dungeon like concourses.  I wonder how the stadium passes fire code...it takes easily half an hour to leave the game.
Additional Comments: The Cubs are terrible and their so called fans dont care about winning.  The Wrigleyville section of the Lakeview neighborhood is full of a bunch of VW driving kids playing grown up in the city.  There is nothing more disgusting than some 24yr old from Northbrook sitting in daddy's season tickets at a cubs game and drinking about 12 beers.

Pros of the ballpark: Being a huge Cub fan from Chicago I have a huge bias towards this park. I like how there's no advertisements in the park (well like 4). I also like how there's a lot of afternoon games. The way baseball was and was meant to be played. The old scoreboard. No jumbotron. It makes you actually watch the game.
Cons of the ballpark: It saddens me to see the Cubs fans turned into what they are today. Frat boys and yuppies who claim to be cub fans yet the only thing they know about the cubs are: Wrigley Field, Harry Caray, and Old Style, yet when asked who Hack Wilson was they would be silenced.
Additional Comments: This was to correct many people's review comments. One said that Chicago airport was on the south side of town. Well, we have 2 airports. Midway is on the west side a bit south, and O'Hare is northwest. You also don't take the Amtrak to Wrigley. you take the L. Yea the park is old and back when it was built, they needed those columns to hold up the UD. The throughs are awesome and the ivy is unique. If you don't like our park, don't come here. Also, the area boys town is south of Wrigleyville and Lakeview. And someone suggested that they demolish some neighborhood buildings to make a parking lot. Well I don't know if he realizes that most of those buildings are our homes. You wouldn't want someone knocking down your house just so out of tourists can park at the ballpark. Come on.

Pros of the ballpark: Ok, it's historical and it's got poison ivy in the outfield.  However, what History can this park actually claim other than it's ancient age, and the fact the Cubs haven't won a title since 1906?  The bleacher Bums are literally Bums and make the ballpark experience somewhat rewarding but other than that, please see cons.
Cons of the ballpark: Oh man this place is the smallest, ugliest, dirtiest, and most unfriendliness place on Earth!  Please, stay home and watch the game on your 25 inch, no wait, watching it on your pocket TV would be better than sitting in a dirty seat at Wrigley Field.  I sat on the field level and found 2 concession stands and one bathroom in which I had to stand in line for 10 minutes.  This place is absolutely atrocious.  I tried to move out towards the right field foul pole and the Ushers forced me back inward!  Oh yeah, if you look up you'll find there is a hidden upper deck that is covered in complete darkness.  Not many fans sit up there.  Probably because there is no access to it other than a latter (that's a joke if you don't see, but I couldn't figure out how the hell you do get up to the second deck).  Wrigley Field and Fenway Park ought to be turned into Farmers Market.  The Red Sox can go play in the fleet center and the Cubs can play at the ugly renovated Soldier Field.  I think that's far better than what they both play in now!
Additional Comments: The dugouts are for little leaguers, how does Sammy Sosa put up with this nonsense?

Pros of the ballpark = At Wrigley Field, you can frequently watch the loveable losers lose.
Cons of the ballpark: Wrigley Field is the most over rated ballpark of all Major League Fields. First off, NOBODY is even there to watch a baseball game. The crowd is comprised of drunk college kids and posers in shirts and ties wearing a brand new Cub hat, yelling go Cubbies like they even care. By the 7th inning nobody even knows what the score is. Secondly, the stadium is old meaning there's view obstructing pillars in the upper deck, the bathrooms cannot handle the capacity crowds, it takes three innings to make it through a concession line, the concourse is packed, seat renovations have left the stands with horrible sight lines, there have been cases of chunks of concrete falling from the upper deck, and the seats are so crammed you have to sit with your knees in your chest. Thirdly, the tickets are extremely over priced, and the Cubs have their own broker that they scalp tickets to their "fans" with. (Thats no joke either, if you call the Cubs to get tickets they tell  you to call their broker.) For $30.00 you'll find yourself in the upper deck sitting behind a rusting support pillar. Lastly, ivy is meant for Victorian homes, not baseball stadiums. Baseball isn't meant for the afternoons. One beer in the stadium should not equal an entire case price wise in a liquor store up the street, no real baseball stadium should have baskets sticking off the already short fences to create more home runs, scoreboards should not be operated by hand, and Sammy Sosa corked his bat.
Additional Comments: If Minute Maid in Houston is a little league diamond, Wrigley Field is a girl's softball field. The wind howls out at 40 miles an hour. Warning track power shots end up on Waveland Avenue. There are no real Cubs fans. Wrigleyville is also known as "Boystown".

Pros of the ballpark: Wrigley has its tradition and thats about all.  The neighbor hood location makes it feel homey and we had no problem parking since we bought a parking pass when we bought the tickets on line. We had good seats down the left field line. The ivy covered walls are as my wife said beautiful. The Chicago Dogs are great.
Cons of the ballpark: The day we were there the game went 15 innings against the Dodgers. It got cold near the end and the place was almost deserted by the time the game was over. We tried to move to seats behind home plate and out of the wind and the ushers had a fit. One of them would not even let me walk down behind home plate to take a picture. For God sakes it was 6:00 in the evening and there were only a few thousand people left in the park. Most had left a great game due to the cold weather, traffic concerns, but mostly because they were too drunk to stay awake that long. The folks in the bleachers had no idea a game was going on as did a lot of the other folks who came just to drink and socialize. The Wrigley Park Experience is overrated.
Additional Comments: We have been to all the Major League Stadiums old and new, and to over 100 Minor League Stadiums also. Drunk fans ruin any game no matter where it is.  Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium and the Drunk capital of the world Milwaukee ( fights in the parking lot and in the stadium) have got problems with the fans who think it is their privilege to get drunk, curse and make an ass out of them self's. But beer is a great money maker and its too bad they will let this continue.

Pros of the ballpark: The best thing about this ballpark is the history. No doubt about it, even football and hockey games have been played there. I was at the Winter Classic game in 2008.
Cons of the ballpark: Where do I start. $35.00 for a parking space. One cannot park in the neighborhoods because of permit parking. The Red Line (train) is your best option or bus. The seats are small and if the weather is hot so will the seats, if its cold the seats are freezing as well. Your sitting on Metal. The Bleachers are filthy. The bathrooms... okay when i have to urinate, i would like a private urinal, and not a huge sewer where the guys stare at my freaking shlong facing each other! The washrooms smell. The floors are dirty. The food is always $3.00 more than average. The fans in my area were obnoxious, and had a little to much to drink.
Additional Comments: The fans deserve a better venue, perhaps a new ballpark for a new start because they obviously wont win in that ugly old dump
